Accidents Caused By Car Drivers

Over half of all large truck fatalities occurred on conventional two lane roadways that were not divided.  Many times these accidents are not the cause of the truck driver, however the driver of the passenger vehicles ignorance of the trucks abilities.  A large truck does not have the same abilities as a passenger vehicle in that it does not have the visibility, braking or acceleration of a car. Often times, this will lead to truck accidents.

  • Common causes of truck accidents caused by passenger vehicles include:
  • Changing lanes abruptly in front of a truck
  • Driving between large trucks for an extended time
  • Driving in the trucks “no-zones”
  • Failing to speed up or slow down when a truck is changing lanes or merging
  • Maneuvering to the right of a truck that is making a right turn
  • Merging improperly into traffic, forcing the truck to react quickly
  • Pulling into traffic in front of a truck without enough acceleration

Many of these causes of truck accidents can be avoided by drivers paying attention to their surroundings, recognizing that trucks do not have the same abilities as cars, and abiding by all traffic laws.
